Puerto Rico 2017

Volunteer: Amarylis Amadeo

When hurricane Maria hit Puerto Rico in September of 2017, sadness, frustration, and loss were our daily news. Towns, houses, and families were destroyed, but we were fortunate enough to come out fairly unscathed. So the big question on our minds was, how could we start helping and reaching the families in need?

Prints of Hope and Dress a Child answered that question. They gave us the opportunity to bring joy and hope to our “isla de encanto” once again; the opportunity to provide basic needs like food, clothing, and medicine. It was also a blessing to be able to give toys to all the children who thought that they would not have any for Christmas.
We could see the smiles and tears of joy all over Puerto Rico. The families we reached were so thankful and grateful, it truly felt like Prints of Hope was a light in the dark for many.

This experience was more amazing than we could have ever imagined. To be able to do it as a family was a blessing. To be able to give and reach the needs of others showed us all the love and mercy God has for us.

We are taught to live by faith and during this experience we saw God move and open doors like never before. We could see the love and mercy of our Father touch every heart that needed his kindness. We saw God in action; saw miracles and how God could touch so many lives. The best part was to be able to become part of Prints of Hope as a family. Because a family who is willing to follow God’s mission is the greatest gift. This was the start of a great
journey with God and Prints of Hope.
